The Chief of Staff (COS) is a strategic partner and sounding board to the CEO and leadership team, acting as an ambassador for the CEO and providing leverage. The COS maintains broad cross-functional knowledge, leads company-wide strategic planning, and helps ensure the successful execution of the company strategy.


The Chief of Staff’s responsibilities will encompass three primary areas:

Manage and improve processes 

  • Manage and execute key company processes in conjunction with the senior team, including company-wide strategic planning, executive offsites, OKRs (in partnership with our Internal Communications Manager), and development of additional processes to track/support execution of major company priorities (if needed)
  • Identify and drive process improvements that contribute to effective decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and a positive employee experience
  • Work with colleagues across the company to ensure the CEO is prepared for company meetings, leadership meetings, board meetings, and external meetings
  • Participate in senior team meetings. Own the agenda, take notes, synthesize essential action items, and track the completion of agreed-upon action items (specifically for meetings led/directed by the CEO)
  • Assist the CEO with internal communication and day-to-day operational issues

Promote team integration as well as cross-functional communication and collaboration

  • Connect dots across people, projects, and departments to improve decision-making and help the organization work better
  • Build relationships with employees across the organization, understanding each team’s priorities, challenges, and opportunities
  • Identify issues as they emerge and take proactive steps to resolve them
  • Provide honest feedback to the CEO and leaders
  • Partner with the CEO’s direct reports, when needed, toward the successful completion of key initiatives and ensure the CEO’s involvement in project or decision-making processes takes place at critical times, where his input and authority is most needed

Help ensure successful execution of strategic projects

  • Assist the CEO with the implementation of key strategic initiatives
  • Act as a main consultant to the CEO, bringing creative ideas and solutions to the table
  • Work with the CEO to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential growth opportunities through a variety of means, including interfacing with functional teams, conducting research, and working with external advisors or consultants
  • Partner with functional teams to evaluate, prioritize and execute key strategic initiatives
  • Work with the CEO to articulate the company strategy and vision


The Chief of Staff should possess the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

  • At least 12-15 years of professional experience
  • Experience leading strategic planning for a large organization
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with acute attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability balanced with sound business judgment
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks and action plans
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, acting as a great partner to CEO and entire management team
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, high integrity and aptitude for working with and across all levels of the organization; must be highly approachable
  • Experience and ability to synthesize complex financial analysis, operational, and KPI data into concise presentations and decision frameworks
